A Junior Finance Analyst supports the finance department by providing financial analysis, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and preparing financial reports. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with large sets of financial data to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Accurate and timeous processing of all inward and outward transactions reflected on both the Policy Administration System as well as Bank Statement through transaction receipting and matching
• Ensure that all transactions are reconciled through the performing of the monthly bank reconciliation process and that all unknown or unaccounted for transactions are timeously and accurately posted to the relevant balance sheet, income statement and suspense/control accounts
• Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries for accruals and/or variances
• Timeously and accurately performing of the relevant General Ledger reconciliations
• Ensuring that all reconciliations are balanced to the final monthly Oracle Trial Balance
• Clearing of outstanding items on the reconciliations and to ensure that all outstanding items are investigated, and valid explanations provided for with necessary follow ups and escalations performed
• Timeously advise the claims department of funds received to create receipt transaction (RC) on TIA for processing on Online Cash system

Qualifications

• Grade 12 essential
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in commerce would be advantageous
• 3 - 5 years’ experience in financial role within the insurance industry
• 2 – 3 years’ TIA system experience
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
